The Minister of the Economy Giorgi Kvirikashvili has admitted for the first time that achieving a 6% economic growth rate this year will be unrealistic, instead predicting that the 4.5% mark could be reached. According to Sakstat’s preliminary results, the GDP growth for the month of May was 0% compared to the same period last year. The Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri has claimed that last year’s growth rates were achieved through government’s aggressive intervention, adding that the economy should be growing in a free and competitive business environment.
