The Board of Directors at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has approved a new three year strategy for Georgia. The strategy acknowledges the country’s strive to remain the main source of reforms in the region, which means improving the judicial and regulatory systems for businesses, liberalizing the customs regime, and further simplifying the tax system. The 2013-2016 strategy also envisages the strengthening of private investment in the country. The EBRD has been active in Georgia since 1993, and has since carried out 159 projects in the country.
