What is the current state of the recreational zones in Tbilisi? Ana Gabriadze, the head of the NGO Safe Space, has told TV3 that recreational zones are facing extinction in the capital. According to her, there is already a shortage of recreational facilities in the city. Moreover, some zones have already been divided into plots that are to be sold for construction purposes. Thus, the Vake Park has been divided into 37 plots, the Dighomi Forest Park into 52, the Mziuri Zoological Park into 67, and the Alexandrov Garden into 12, according to Ms. Gabriadze.
TV3 has sought to find out the Mayor’s Office’s Ecology Department’s position on the present issue, but has been unable to do so, due to the head of the department presently not being in Tbilisi.
