Council for Disputes Resolution of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia starts working with renewed principles and a new team. Official presentation of the ongoing reforms was held on February 13 at Sheraton Metechi Palace. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia, attended the event.

Renewed policy of the new team of the Ministry of Finance was discussed in the frame of the presentation. Renewed version of the Council’s official website was also presented.

Around 200 Representatives from legislative and executive bodies, judiciary system, parliamentary committees, international donors, business organizations and law and audit firms attended the event.

“During the last 3 months we’ve conducted significant reforms, which also concerned increasing transparency. This is why non-governmental sector was involved in the activities carried out by the Council for Disputes Resolution. All the decisions will be public. Taxpayers will be informed about the arguments based on which the decision was made, which will be used while dealing with similar cases in future,” declared the Minister.

3-months’ work of the Council for Disputes Resolution was summed up during the meeting. Since the new team of the Council was approved (from December 14 to February 12) 13 sessions were held during which final decisions were drawn about 287 complaints. 63% of the complaints were fully or partially approved, negative conclusion was drawn towards 18%.

“During the past years, one of the main problems businesses faces was ‘selective justice’. Today, we see the Council for Disputes Resolution launching the practice of fair justice and publicity,” noted Kakha Kokhreidze, President of Georgian Small and Medium. Enterprise Association (GSMEA).
