Construction Permit in Historic Districts

The Tbilisi Mayor’s Office has complained about the handing over of the rights to issue construction permits to the Ministry of Culture. The Governor of Old Tbilisi Nika Melia has told TV3 that the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection will be reluctant to issue construction permits, potentially endangering all the projects that are currently being carried out in Old Tbilisi.
The Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection has so far declined to comment on the issue, but has stated that all the important projects in the Old Tbilisi area will continue, and that the appearance of the city will not change.
