Companies Labelled as ‘Dishonest’ on Social Networking Website Respond to Allegations

The creators of a Facebook page titled ‘Dishonest Companies’ have stated that they aim to expose dishonest companies that are active on the Georgian market. Allegations made on the page include claims that the price of Likani has been increased without announcement, that Populi are selling low quality products, and that Kula are using cucumbers imported from Azerbaijan in their produce.
The company IDS Borjomi has denied claims that the volume of Likani bottles has been secretly reduced by 25%, stating that the 1.25 litre bottles were part of a promotional campaign. The company states that it has no plans to increase the price of Likani from the current 1 GEL. A spokesman for Populi has told TV3 that the comments made on the social networking page are designed to discredit the company. He acknowledges that there have been instances of breaches of norms at its stores in the past, but states that all product storage norms are now being maintained. The Director General of Kula has stated that the allegations regarding the company’s use of cucumbers imported from Azerbaijan are untrue.
