Representatives from Geo-Hospital in Tetritskaro have commented on the suspension of some of their services. According to them, the talk is not about closing the hospital, but some of its departments. The head of Geo-Hospital’s supervisory commission Giorgi Kvirikadze has stated that expenses were far outweighing income, leading to the closure of the surgical, gynaecological and reanimation departments. Half of the staff affected by the department closures are still unemployed. According to Mr. Kvirikadze, the hospital was constructed without the due consideration for the town’s low population, which could not support the clinic for very long. The hospital had no sources of income other than the revenue collected from patients.
