About $ 8 million have been withdrawn from Turkish banks since the beginning of May to the present, head of the Central Bank of Turkey Erdem Basci said, ‘Hurriyet’ newspaper of Turkey reported on Thursday.

According to Basci, depositors withdrawing their savings from banks in Turkey are mostly citizens of other countries.

He added that the withdrawal of this amount does not represent a threat to the banking sector.

Earlier, Turkish media reported that most depositors withdrew their money from banks on the background of the events taking place in various cities of Turkey.
