EUR 40 Million Framework Financing to Boost this Fruitful Part of the Economy

November, 24 2011-EBRD under its newly launched initiative, the Georgian Agricultural Finance Facility (GAFF), is providing up to EUR 40 million to its local partner banks in Georgia for on-lending to farmers and other agricultural entities. Bank of Georgia, TBC Bank, VTB Bank Georgia and ProCredit Bank will be receipients of the framework financing.

UNDP Assists Agriculture and Tourism in Adjara

BATUMI. 21 November 2011 – With over USD 600 thousand project UNDP continues its assistance to boosting economic development of Ajara Autonomous Republic. The new initiative focuses on agriculture and tourism industries, and on the development of trade.
The initiative is funded by the government of Finland, UNDP and the Adjara Autonomous Republic government.

Property and Land Tax Payers in Georgia will Get Notified Electronically

November 8- Property and land tax payer in Georgia will get notified electronically on due taxes to declare. According to Jaba Ebanoidze, the Head of the Revenue Service, the new service will decrease bureaucratic barriers to minimum level, thus making best comfortable environment for taxpayers.
“All the taxpayers, who have completed property declaration and have to pay taxes till November 15 will get notified electronically on how to do the payment, which treasury code to use and what the terms are,” stated the Head of the Revenue Service.

On November 10 Georgia’s Finance Minister Dimitri Gvindadze and Norway’s Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store signed an agreement on avoiding double taxation. The main goal of the agreement is to further increase the volume of economic relations between the countries assist investment inflow.

UNDP Assists Chamber of Control of Georgia

On 10 November 2011, the Chamber of Control of Georgia presented its new human resource strategy adopted in 2011.
Representatives of the Czech Embassy to Georgia, Supreme Audit Office of the Czech Republic, the Chamber of Control of Georgia and UNDP attended the event.
In cooperation with the UNDP-Czech Trust Fund, UNDP assists the Chamber of Control of Georgia to harness European expertise in public sector management. The project helps develop the human resource strategy of the Chamber and introduce specific human resource management software.
