Total Volume of the Non-Bank Deposits in Georgia Made GEL 6.8 Billion

Total volume of the non-bank deposits in the country’s banking sector decreased by 0.8 percent or GEL 52.5 million compared with the March 1, 2012, and constituted GEL 6.8 billion by April 1, 2012. In March, 2012, compared to the previous month, the volume of demand deposits decreased by GEL 146.1 million (4.4 percent) and term deposits increased by GEL 93.6 million (2.7 percent).
The dollarization ratio of the total non-bank deposits constituted 60.7 percent by April 1, 2012. It increased by 1.9 percentage points compared to March 1, …

Growth in the Volume of Lending by Georgia’s Commercial Banks

The volume of lending by commercial banks (including loans to non-residents) in March, 2012, compared to the previous month, increased by GEL 145.8 million (1.9 percent) and exceeded 7.8 billion GEL by April 1, 2012. The volume of loans provided in the national currency increased by GEL 53.3 million (2.2 percent) and the volume of loans in a foreign currency increased by GEL 92.5 million (1.8 percent).

Most Georgian Entrepreneurs View Their Business Environment Positively, IFC Survey Finds

Tbilisi, Georgia, April 20, 2012—A new survey from IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, finds that the majority of Georgian business people view the country’s business environment positively, as measured by their perception of recent legislative reforms.
The survey results are helping the government to identify remaining challenges to improve the investment climate. The IFC Georgia Tax Simplification Project, surveying more than 1,000 Georgian businesses, finds that 75 percent of enterprises believe that the business environment is fairly or quite attractive. Bank of Georgia Financed the Acquisition of the First GE Healthcare PET/CT system in the South Caucasus

Tbilisi, Georgia, April 20, 2012—Bank of Georgia, the leading Georgian Bank, GE Healthcare – the healthcare business of GE (NYSE: GE), and the High Technology Medical Center University Clinic today announced the acquisition of the first GE Healthcare PET/CT (positron emission tomography/computed tomography) system in the South Caucasus region.
