LOS ANGELES — “John Carter” is now officially a flop of galactic proportions.
The Walt Disney Co. said Monday that it expects to book a loss of $200 million on the movie in the quarter through March. That’s among Hollywood’s biggest money-losers ever.
Directed by Pixar’s Andrew Stanton, the 3-D effects-laden movie about a Civil War veteran transplanted to Mars was already headed to the “Red Ink Planet,” according to Cowen & Co. analyst Doug Creutz. Yet he expected a write-down of about half that size.

Jay-Z is in talks to secure Beyoncé Knowles a $150 million touring deal, it has been reported.
The rapper is believed to have approached Live Nation about the prospect of his superstar wife hitting the road. He believes the lucrative shows will be a sell out all over the world.
“Just weeks after the birth of Blue Ivy, Jay met with Live Nation to discuss a tour for Beyoncé,” a source told New York Post. “He wanted a deal worth about $150million, but they countered with a lower offer.”

George Clooney acted like “Liz Taylor” to shine a light on the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
The actor has spoken out following his arrest on Friday. He was handcuffed after crossing a police line while leading a protest outside the Sudanese embassy and was detained along with his father Nick, Democratic politician Jim Moran of Virginia, Martin Luther King III and civil rights leader Ben Jealous.
