‘She’s Flat Broke’: Whitney Houston ‘has Spent her $100m Fortune’

She’s about to make her big screen comeback in the remake of Sparkle with popstar Jordin Sparks but Whitney Houston is reportedly ‘broke’.
The 48-year-old singer – who has overcome crack cocaine addiction – has allegedly spent all of her fortune, including a reported $100million record deal.
Whitney is being financially supported by her record label Arista, which has given her an advance payment on her next album, according to reports.

The Academy Award Ceremony Might Be Moved Outside Hollywood

Having been held at the Kodak Theatre since 2001, the annual Academy Award ceremony might move to a new venue outside Hollywood after 2013. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has been considering to move the Oscar show to Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
It was reported that AEG, which operates the L.A. Live and 7,100-seat Nokia Theatre, has already been in discussion with the AMPAS about the issue. The new venue is said to offer bigger facilities than in Kodak. It has …

‘Bruce Almighty’ Sequel in the Works

Nine years after “Bruce Almighty,” Universal is plotting a second coming. (Or technically a third.)
EW has confirmed a Variety report that the studio has plans to reunite Jim Carrey with the “Yes Man” writers (Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel) for a new chapter in the life of the newscaster who is handed God’s powers and responsibilities after complaining about the big man’s negligence.

No “Desperate Housewives” Movie in the Works

Don’t look for those Wisteria Lane housewives on the silver screen. There probably won’t be a “Desperate Housewives” reunion movie.
The producers of “Desperate Housewives” said on January 11 the series finale will leave a few loose ends hanging, but cautioned fans against awaiting a reunion movie.
Creator Marc Cherry said that eight seasons have given the ABC series time to “plumb the depths” of the characters played by Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross and others in the ensemble cast. “Desperate Housewives” will air its final episode this spring.

Yahoo Partners with Tom Hanks for Animated Web Series

Yahoo is taking yet another step toward pushing itself as a content-focused company with the announcement of a new Web series being launched in partnership with Hollywood icon Tom Hanks.
Called Electric City, the new animated show will be produced by Hanks’ company Playtone and Reliance Entertainment and streamed exclusively online. The science fiction-themed show, set to debut this spring, will run for about 20 episodes, at roughly 4 minutes per clip.
