The International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy has spoken out against the Cartu Group. It has reached the conclusion that the transfer of funds by Cartu into the Agricultural Development Fund could qualify as an attempt to bribe voters. The Development Fund finances projects such as Cheap Agricultural Loans, which are of an obvious financial interest to the citizens. Therefore, the funds transferred by Cartu are in breach of the law, according to the Executive Director of ISFED Nino Lomjaria. The NGO has called upon Cartu to cease financing the Development Fund. The Cheap Agricultural Loans program has over 700 000 citizens involved in it.
