The oil company Canargo is to proceed with geophysical works in the vicinity of Ninotsminda and Sagarejo in spite of the protests from local residents. According to a company spokesman, the locals’ fears regarding the possible contamination of drinking water as a result of the works are unfounded. The spokesman has also refuted reports that the company has complained about negligence on behalf of the Energy Ministry.
According to the Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze, the ministry is willing to help any investor solve any problem with regards to improving the country’s energy sector.
Canargo has already obtained permission to conduct geophysical works and drilling in the area near Sagarejo and Ninotsminda.
