Business Against Cancer
The presentation of the fund named Business Against Cancer has taken place in the Radisson Hotel. A spokesman for the fund has told TV3 that the aim of the project is to raise awareness and enlist the support of businesses in helping people affected by the disease. With the backing from businesses, the fund will finance those forms of cancer treatment which are not covered by the State insurance program.
Representatives of various businesses have expressed their interest in taking part in the initiative. They say that cancer represents a major problem in Georgia, and it is vital for businesses to provide financial backing for projects of this kind.
According to the statistics, cancer has claimed 8000 lives in Georgia over the last 10 years, and the number of people affected by the disease has increased by 55%.
