TV3 has found out that the Tbilisi City Council is set to initiate a new project designed to rehabilitate houses which are in an emergency state. According to the chairman of the council Irakli Shakhiashvili, the new project will have little in common with the previous government’s ‘New Life for Old Tbilisi’ project, and will be carried out with due regard for the interests of the locals residents.
According to the National Statistics Centre, 60 000 families currently live in buildings which are in an emergency state, with no possibility of them being fully restored. A sum of 10 million GEL has been allocated from the 2013 State Budget for dealing with this issue.
