The President of the United States Barack Obama has sent a letter to the former Prime Minister of Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili. “Dear Mr Ivanishvili, it has been my pleasure to work with your government during your time as Prime Minister. As you are leaving this post, I would like to express my respect for the role which you have played for the sustainable development of democracy in Georgia, and for the deepening of the relations between the USA and Georgia.
Your achievements as Prime Minister, as well as the successful elections and peaceful transfer of power, have strengthened Georgia. I would like to thank you for the help that Georgia has provided for our joint efforts in Afghanistan. We value the significant contribution and sacrifice made by the Georgian armed forces.
I look forward to working with Prime Minister Gharibashvili. We will continue to support Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic ambitions, as well as your country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. I wish you happiness and success in all your future endeavours,” Barack Obama’s letter states.
