BANK OF GEORGIA LAUNCHES THE FIRST AMERICAN EXPRESS® BUSINESS CREDIT CARDS IN GEORGIA

February 7th, 2012, Tbilisi – Bank of Georgia, the leading Georgian bank, announced today that it has started the exclusive issuance of the new American Express Business Credit Cards, the first of their kind in Georgia. Businesses in Georgia will be able to choose from two Cards – the American Express® Green Business Card and the American Express® Gold Business Card. Bank of Georgia is the exclusive issuer of American Express payment cards, as well as the American Express merchant acquirer in Georgia.

The new American Express-branded Business Cards offer Georgian companies financial control and outstanding value through a host of exciting features including payment flexibility, 24×7 world-class customer service and the opportunity to access unique business offers, coupled with the benefits such as travel insurance and purchase protection. The Cards can be used for everyday business spending and travel costs, as well as for cash withdrawals at Bank of Georgia service centres and ATMs. In addition, Cardmembers can collect Membership Reward points which can be redeemed against company purchases, and will also receive access to the Selects™ merchant discounts programme.

Companies with the new Business Cards will be allowed a common credit limit under which they can request any number of Cards. Membership Rewards can be earned on all purchases and these will be accumulated onto the company’s account. When ordering three Business Cards, companies can receive every fourth Card free of charge.

The key features of the new American Express Business Cards include:

  • Payment flexibility: 35 days interest-free credit on purchases and cash withdrawals, allowing companies to pay off their balances in full or over time. Furthermore, Cardmembers can access cash at any Bank of Georgia ATM and service centres and at more than 800,000 ATMs around the world.
  • Membership Rewards: Companies will earn 1 point for every Lari their employees spend making purchases using their Business Cards. The points will never expire and companies can redeem their points for a wide range of travel packages, flights and everyday business items.
  • Business Savings Program: Business Cardmembers can save money through the Business Savings Programme which offers significant discounts of up to 50% at popular hotels and restaurants, as well as at everyday spend locations such as retailers. Offers are available on purchases made both locally and abroad.
  • Travel insurance, retail and fraud protection: Cardmembers will benefit from comprehensive travel insurance, encompassing expenses associated with medical and injury costs and with cancelled or delayed flights, and which is compliant with Schengen visa requirements.  Cardmembers will also receive retail purchase protection on virtually all purchases made using the Cards, whether bought on the high street or online. In addition, Cardmembers will enjoy fraud protection and will not be held liable for fraudulent charges if their Card is lost or stolen.
  • World-Class customer service: A team of professionals will provide 24×7 customer service, ready to assist in making flight and hotel bookings and to support the Cardmember whilst they are travelling abroad.
  • Special benefits: Business Cardmembers are automatically enrolled into the American Express Selects Program, a global network of merchants providing exclusive offers and discounts to American Express Cardmembers. Some of the most popular restaurants, hotels and retailers in Georgia are participating in the Selects Program, as well as thousands of merchants worldwide.
