Azerbaijan, the third-largest oil producer in the former Soviet Union, said oil and natural-gas exports fell in the first seven months of the year.
The Caspian Sea nation shipped 19 million metric tons of crude, a decline of 8 percent from a year earlier, the State Statistics Committee said in an e-mailed statement. Gas exports dropped 17 percent to 3.27 billion cubic meters.
Azerbaijan pumped 25.9 million tons of oil in the period, a decline of 6.3 percent from a year earlier, the statistics committee said yesterday. Production of marketable gas, which the country exports to Georgia, Turkey, Russia and Iran, grew by 7.7 percent to 10.3 billion cubic meters.
The biggest oil producer in the former Soviet Union is Russia, followed by Kazakhstan.
