Simon Cowell already has his fair share of big names vaguely linked to his hit “X Factor” series, but there’s one more singer who wants to throw her name into the ring.

“Wish You Were Here” singer Avril Lavigne has reportedly reached out to the people behind the talent competition to express her interest in filling the judges’ seats made vacant by the departure of Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.

TMZ reports that the singer, 27, believes she would be a good addition to the team because she started her career in the music industry at such a young age, and could therefore provide ample mentorship for the contestants.

Lavigne, who hails from Ontario, Canada, released her first album, “Let Go,” at the young age of 17, and performed with industry heavyweights like Shania Twain at the age of 15.

The singer does have one considerable advantage over other candidates for the job: current judge L.A. Reid is her mentor.

Other rumored contenders for the coveted judges’ seats include Britney Spears, Elton John, Fergie and Janet Jackson.

Cowell has also previously noted that Whitney Houston was being considered for one of the judge’s slots prior to her sudden death in January.

“There’s a load of speculation, some true, some not true,” Cowell told E! News of the rumors. “It’s true to say that there are a lot more people who’ve entered the frame this year. We were waiting to see who was going to contact us before we actually contacted people.”

The reality maven added that he won’t be letting the cat out of the bag too soon, however.

“While you’ve got ‘The Voice’ and ‘Idol’ competing with each other, I’ve learned one lesson: Keep your mouth shut. Don’t give it all away.”
