Austria to Allocate EUR 10 930 000 for Ski Infrastructure Development in Adjara, Georgia

High mountainous region of Adjara, Georgia, known for rich skiing tourism and recreational zone potential, will turn into country’s next best important tourism and employment hub.

On June 18 UniCredit Bank Austria AG signed an agreement with the Ministry of Finance of Georgia on allocating EUR 10 930 000 preferential (zero percent) financial resources for developing skiing infrastructure in the region. The signing ceremony between Dimitri Gvindadze, Minister of Finance of Georgia and Florence Werdisheim,Managing Director of UniCredit Bank Austria AG,  was held in Batumi.

The financing will be spent in developing skiing infrastructure on Goderdzi pass. 1.7 km Gondola and 1.9 km Chairlift ropeways will be installed. Total length of the ropeway tracks will reach 11km. The project will be implemented by Austrian company Doppelmayr. An agreement with the latter was signed on June 8.

New resort will host first holiday-makers in the end of 2012.
