It has become mandatory for those wishing to conduct alternative auditing to obtain an appropriate certificate. Khatia Moistsrapishvili, the head of the Tax Services Public Relations Department has told TV3 that more than 500 companies have expressed their interest in participating in the certification process on 19 October. According to her, after a company has passed the authorisation process, its reports will have equal authority to those of the Tax Services audits.
Plans for the certification process have received the approval of the head of the company BDO Zurab Lalazashvili, though according to him, an authorised private audit’s report will not automatically be of a high standard, and it will be necessary to inspect the quality of the work carried out by alternative audits. Apart from attaining the certificate, the auditing companies ought to take part in an accreditation process to determine whether or not they satisfy international standards, Mr. Lalazashvili has added.
