Are some groups finding it more difficult to profit from the Cheap Agricultural Loans programme? At a recent Tbilisoba festival, the Christian Democratic Party presidential candidate Giorgi Targamadze stated that local tea and honey manufacturing companies have been unable to benefit from the programme in spite of numerous attempts. In response, the Agricultural Projects Administration Agency has stated that 65 loans have already been issued to representatives of the beekeeping sector as part of the second and third component of the Cheap Agricultural Loans programme. Both medium sized and large enterprises have been financed in this area. According to the agency, no tea manufacturers have been financed thus far, as none of them have applied to the banks for a loan.
