According to the 9 month data from 2013, the number of visitors to Georgia has increased by 25%. The deputy head of the National Tourist Agency Rusudan Mamatsashvili has stated that 507 082 international travellers have entered the country in September, which represents a 15% increase on the same period last year. She attributes the increase to the marketing campaigns that were conducted internationally. Over 2 million tourists have visited Georgia during the summer, which represents a 23% increase on last year. According to Ms. Mamatsashvili, the demand for wine tours has also gone up, and the number of visitors to Kakheti has increased by 20% compared to last year.
The National Tourist Agency expects the total number of visitors to reach the 5 million mark by the end of the year.
