Tbilisi. 18 July 2012 – The Ambassadorial Working Group (AWG) met to discuss the recent amendments to the Election Code, providing for so-called “must-carry, must-offer” obligations for cable providers and TV broadcasters, respectively.

On behalf of the assembled ambassadors, we would like to welcome these amendments as a very positive initiative to provide a large part of the Georgian population with a more diverse range of information sources.

We would also encourage the government to continue exploring the possibilities for the application of the “must-carry, must-offer” obligations beyond election-day.
