Airline companies have responded to Airzena’s Director Iase Zautashvili’s statement regarding the alarming state of the runway at the Tbilisi International Airport. Jemal Khakhuteishvili, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Georgian International, has demanded that legal action be taken against Airzena for intimidating passengers. According to him, the statements coming from Airzena are designed to scare off foreign competitors and establish the company as the sole leader on the market.
Mr. Khakhuteishvili’s views have been echoed by the company Pegasus’s representatives in Georgia. Thus, according to Levan Elizbarashvili, the runway is being inspected on a regular basis, and talks of it being faulty are out of place.
Airzena has described its rivals’ comments as unfounded, but has declined to make a detailed statement.
