The Agricultural Cooperative Development Agency begins to operate today. The agency will be tasked with awarding or withdrawing the status of a cooperative, monitoring, and carrying out State programmes. According to a statement from the agency, farmers will be able to take advantage of certain concessions based on the recent changes to the Tax Code by taking up membership in a cooperative. The agency will begin the process of awarding statuses to cooperatives in December. Meetings are to take place with farmers across the country in order to spread the information about the agency.
