Georgia’s largest cognac manufacturers Sarajishvili are being taken to court. The United States-based Optima Group accuses the company of breaching the terms of the contract, signed in 2011, which affords Optima exclusive rights to export Sarajishvili products to the Russian market for a period of 5 years. The American side is planning to speak in detail about the case on 27 June. Earlier, representatives of Sarajishvili have denied breaching the terms of the contract. The company says that it does not understand why it is being asked to pay a 500 000 USD penalty, as well as having to give away an unacceptably high percentage of their incomes.
