Ten years have passed since the murder of Giorgi Sanaia, Rustavi2 journalist. The anchor of the most popular political talk show the Night Courier was found dead in his apartment on July 26, 2001.
Four months after the murder the police arrested Grigol Khurtsilava, former officer of the Interior Ministry, nicknamed Gretsko, who pleaded guilty. The investigation lasted two years and in 2003, the court sent Khurtsilava to jail for 13 years. The motive of the murder was personal conflict.
However, the relatives and the society accused the investigation of bias, saying the motive of the murder of the prominent journalist was political.
